Build for Life 4 June 08

Having been married for a year we had not fulfilled our build for life commitment for around $2500 from the previous year. Things had come up and we rarely made a payment. When I was offered the leadership of Northern Connections I had the difficult choice of reducing my business to part-time and there was a stretch of faith time for Erin and I financially because of that.

To reduce my business expenses and volume I needed to sell my car to pay debt down off the business and was concurrently unable to wash as many cars due to my role at the church. Erin was only on a part-time wage and we simultaneously received a $6000 tax bill due to unforeseeable circumstances. This all happened within a month or two towards the end of 2007.

We prayed and God provided supernaturally - one of my clients gave me all of their cars to wash for 3 months when they went overseas and my accountant did something to correct a massive underestimate on my expenses from the previous year and had my tax revised to zero! We were thus able to pay all of our debt to zero and there was more than enough income to supplement my church salary. There was now $2500 left from the sale of the car and we decided to complete our build for life of the same amount.

It was our "dream" and very much a "dream" to go to Europe this year.  On vision Sunday while I was preaching about vision my dad said he saw a vision of Erin and I in Italy with him. He paid for the airfares $5000 and we leave for Italy in 5 days time. This is part of our dream for 2008. God is so good. He is our provider and 2 weeks after completing our B4L we had a trip to Europe, one that we never could have afforded.

The most valuable dividend from this experience is that I now know that I know that God is my provider and NOT my business!
