TITHING June 08

“Last year we had to walk away from our business & my husband was out of work for approx 3 months.  We were left with a significant personal debt due to the business not working out.  During that time God challenged me to begin tithing again, from our minimal Centrelink income and a bit of income I was receiving working from home.  Once we began to tithe again I started to feel like there was more than enough money to cover our expenses and God would lead me to every bargain that was going, and I mean exceptionally low priced items that we needed.  I’ve always been a bargain hunter but these were incredible.  In the 8 months since my husband has been working full time again we have managed to pay off a large portion of the left over debt from the business.  Also we’ve had to be really diligent with budgeting & where our money is going.
 
The first thing we do when any income goes into our account, is tithe… electronically.  There ALWAYS seems to be more money after tithing, and to be honest I never notice that what we’ve tithed is gone!  Funny  how God works and ushers in his peace even-more-so when we are living in obedience and how it is out of our relationship with Jesus.  We are truly walking under the “open heaven” that God wants us to be walking.”

Just dropping you a line to let you know of a huge blessing I received which I believe flowed on after you prayed at the end of the morning service last Sunday week. You asked anyone to come up if the message had spoken to them, and it had occurred to me that it would be great if I gave to God with the same pleasure I got from giving to others I love (like my kids), rather than just tithing out of habit. You prayed for grace and I certainly received it. During that week I was convicted of some bad attitudes and resentment I felt towards Him and others which I  prayed through with a friend. We prayed for several areas of my life that have been 'financially challenged' which included an affordable reliable car low on fuel consumption.

Last weekend someone called in and told me that he was doing extremely well in his business and had decided to get a new car for himself. Not only that he wanted to buy me a brand new car too! I was in a state of shock for a couple of days - a new car wasn't even on my horizon. I was hoping for God's blessing and help to find a reliable 2nd hand car in December, when I hoped to replace my old fuel guzzler. As you can see He has provided me with so much more. Not only that the person who is giving me the car told me he had decided it the weekend before (when you prayed), but was just waiting for confirmation of his financial state before he told me.

I still find it amazing and hard to believe I'll be driving a lovely new car in a few weeks time! He is so good.
