TREASURE HUNT - page 3 1 July 08

I was in a group with Bernie, Jonathon, ia(not sure if that is right
spelling?)and Jenny Cornish. As you know Jenny was taken to hospital after
she fainted. Are you able to email me with how she is today?

Earlier in the night Jenny and I had the opportunity to pray for a man and
his two young children. I had icecream on my list as well as broken heart
and jenny had light blue jacket. We walked past the man initially when he
was out in the street and then went to McDonalds where Jonathon found his
"treasure". Jenny said if the man was still there then she thinks she should
pray for him. We walked back and he had moved and was now in the icecream
shop.....so went together to talk with him. He didn't have enough money to
get his two young children home so we helped him out with that after he
assured us it was for transport. We then asked if we could pray for him and
his two children which he readily agreed to. He asked us if we were part of
another Christian group and when he said no, we asked if he has asked Jesus
into his life he said yes. Jenny then prayed for his daughter's eye and his
son's rash and for him as a single dad. He was a very kind hearted man who
was very sad that his wife had left him with the kids. I felt prompted to
share that God wants him to know he see's his kind heart. He seemed
encouraged and very grateful for us sharing with him.

Even though it was awful to see jenny so unwell and to faint like she did,
it was a wonderful opportunity for us to share with the staff at the coffee
shop and the security guard and his girlfriend what we were doing and to ask
them if we could pray for them. Although no one wanted us to pray for them
then at the time, a few shared some things and we felt like we were really
got to know them. So be exciting to see what may come of that.

TREASURE HUNT

Thank you for the opportunity to go out on a treasure hunt. I must say I enjoyed it a lot more than the Jesus Culture one earlier. The reason being that on the Jesus culture treasure hunt I chickened out of actually speaking to my person even though I found them with absolute accuracy.

I was very anxious leading up to the treasure hunt however I knew that God was onto it. I was anxious because I chickened out of the Jesus culture treasure hunt earlier. The words that I got were: McDonalds, grey, old man, Benjamin & David, yellow, eye contact, wrinkles, heart, head, anxiety, feet, life's purpose, wallet in front left pocket.

When we arrived at McDonalds there was an old man wearing mostly grey with his wife. They walked straight past me and I knew that it was him. I said to my team that it was my person and Bernie offered to come with me, however I knew that I had more hope of fulfilling the hunt on my own. So, unlink Jesus culture, I turned around and said, "excuse me". They didn't hear me. I said, "Hello" and they turned around.

Previously, Bernie encouraged me to say to people, "I am on a treasure hunt" I said there was no way that I would say that however I found myself saying, "I'm on a treasure hunt and I'm from a church and we've prayed and written down some names and I think you are one of them...I wrote man at McDonalds wearing grey" I then offered to pray for them reading out some of the words above. The wife was really open and wanted prayer. The man was supportive and a little suspicious however he indicated that he knew God and was a prayer. The wife wanted me to pray for her and asked for specific prayer which we did in agreement as a group afterwards. They left and I was ecstatic that I had fulfilled the hunt. It was a much better feeling that when I chickened out at Jesus culture.

I felt strongly that I was better at confrontational evangelism (and if we're honest that is what it is) when I am free to roam, however in reality we rarely speak to people when we roam. I tended to prefer being interrupted by the Holy Spirit than going out on a hunt, however I am now convinced it is both and.

Afterwards, my team told me that when they arrived at McDonalds the grey, old man's wife made eye contact - one of my words - it was remarkable and friendly enough for them to mention it to me, despite my team not knowing that that was one of my words!!

It was after that that I was very humbled and realised that no one was in that McDonalds, only the staff a security man and those two who I offered to pray for. If we had arrived 2 minutes later or earlier we never would have seen him! I am very excited.

PS: I offered to pray for Ia's son "Benjamin" and it was powerful. He was the Benjamin and he seemed to need help for "life's purposes"! Yay God, it was powerful prayer!
